Date: Saturday, November 29, 10:30 AM - 12:45 PM

Instructor: Elissa Cobb

Ever wondered what makes one yarn soft and springy while another feels cool and drapey? In Yarn 101: Fiber, Elissa Cobb will guide you through the fascinating world of fiber—the very foundation of every yarn.

This class explores the four main fiber types used in yarn:

  • Protein
  • Cellulose
  • Cellulosic
  • Synthetic.

You’ll learn how each fiber behaves, what makes them unique, and how to choose the right one for your next project. Whether you’re knitting, crocheting, weaving, or just beginning your yarn journey, this class will help you understand why fiber choice matters and how it can elevate your finished work.

Perfect for beginners and curious makers alike, Yarn 101: Fiber will leave you feeling more confident in selecting yarns that suit your creative vision and project goals.

We’ll use a variety of yarns carried in the shop to demonstrate the distinct qualities of each fiber type, giving you a hands-on understanding of how they look, feel, and perform.
