Yarn 102: Ply (01/17/2026)

$ 50.00

Date: Saturday, January 17, 10:30 AM - 12:45 PM

Instructor: Elissa Cobb

Building on the concepts introduced in Yarn 101: Fiber—though no prior class is required—Yarn 102: Ply explores how yarn construction shapes the look, feel, and performance of your projects. Elissa Cobb will guide you through the fascinating world of plied yarns, examining how single, 2-ply, 3-ply, and multi-ply structures influence texture, strength, drape, and stitch definition. You’ll gain insight into how twist direction, balance, and ply count affect both the making process and the finished fabric.

We’ll use yarns carried in the shop to demonstrate the unique characteristics of different ply types, giving you a hands-on understanding of how they behave in various stitches and techniques.

Whether you’re continuing from Yarn 101 or joining us fresh, this class will deepen your understanding of yarn construction and help you make more informed, creative choices in your craft.
