Dates: Wednesday - October 7th & 21st 2:00-4:00 PM

This 2-session Introduction to Cables course will teach you the basics of cables and twists.  Together students will work on a worsted weight unisex cabled hat with simple cables and twists.  You will have a completed hat by the end of the course and the skills necessary to work both cables and twists.

In the first session we will learn how to work 2/2 cables and 1/1 cables, also called twists.  In the second session we will work the crown shaping and learn how to decrease while working cables.

Homework to complete before the start of class: Choose your hat size and complete the hat brim:

Using size US 5 / 3.75 mm 16” / 80 cm needle, cast on 86 (98, 108) stitches using long-tail cast on method. Join to work in the round and place a unique marker to show BOR.

Rib Round: (*K1, P1), repeat from * to BOR.

Repeat Rib Round 11 more times, for a total of 12 rounds

Purchase before the start of class:

  • 1 skein (~200 yds) of worsted weight yarn

  • 1 US 5 - 16” circular needle

  • 1 US 7 - 16” circular needle

  • 1 set US 7 double pointed needles 

  • Tapestry needle

  • Stitch markers

Hearth and Vines Hat by Alice Dunn Smith from Ravelry will be provided via email upon purchase of the class.  Please include your Ravelry username in the notes sections when checking out if you would like the pattern to populate in your Ravelry library.

Materials for the class must be bought at Must Love Yarn.  Students will receive a 10% discount on the cost of supplies for the class.

Cancellations can be made for a complete refund 10 days before the date of the class. Must Love Yarn reserves the right to cancel the class if the minimum number of students is not met, at that time a full refund will be given to any students who have registered.
