Curious about sock knitting but not sure where to start? This Introduction to Sock Knitting class is designed to help demystify the process and build confidence with the basics. Students will knit a worsted-weight, cuff-down shorty sock, an approachable project that allows you to clearly see the structure of a sock without the challenges of fine yarn.

This class will take place in two parts. In the first session, we’ll focus on turning the heel and picking up stitches for the gusset. In the second session, students will learn how to finish their sock using the Kitchener stitch to neatly close the toe.

This class is ideal for knitters who are comfortable with basic knitting and purling and are ready to try something new. You’ll leave with a solid understanding of sock construction and the skills needed to tackle future sock projects with confidence.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 skein worsted weight yarn (we recommend Berroco Vintage or Plymouth Encore as they have some nylon/acrylic to add durability to your socks)
  • US 5 (3.75mm) needles - your preferred style for small circumference knitting: Double Pointed Needles, 9" Circulars, or 32" Circulars for Magic Loop
  • Stitch markers, darning needle, and tape measure

Materials must be purchased from Must Love Yarn.  Class materials will get a 15% discount, please inform the sales associate you are purchasing for a class and they will apply your discount.

Cancellations can be made for a complete refund 10 days before the date of the class. Must Love Yarn reserves the right to cancel the class if the minimum number of students is not met, at that time a full refund will be given to any students who have registered.
