Flowerpower VT Mill Blend Plant Dyed
$ 33.49
Flowerpower VT is a specialty cut flower farm located on a hillside in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. Suri llamas and Finnsheep roam the hillside, providing both fertilizer for the flowers and fiber for yarn enthusiasts. The farm is committed to organic and sustainable practices, growing beautiful flowers and fibers in a way that supports both the land and local craft.
Suri llamas, a South American camelid, produce high-luster, long, fine fiber. Their fleece is luxuriously soft, with no crimp, resulting in a beautiful drape.
Finnsheep, or simply Finn, are an ancient Scandinavian heritage breed. Their wool is silky with moderate crimp and high luster, giving yarns spun from it both durability and shine.
Cheviot wool was added at the mill to introduce additional body and bounce to the Flowerpower VT 50% Suri Llama 50% Finnsheep classic blend.
This durable fiber blend is extremely versatile. It’s sturdy enough to resist pilling and wear well, yet soft enough for garments worn next to the skin—perfect for sweaters, accessories, and blankets.
This 2-ply yarn is especially wonderful for lace, as it flattens when blocked and blooms within the stitch. It’s also an excellent choice for weaving.
Color in this yarn is created with natural plant dyes overdyed onto natural gray fiber. Overdying the gray yarn results in a saturated, earthy look.
*Please note: Due to the natural, sustainable farming methods used, some vegetable matter may be present in this yarn. While we do our best to remove it, occasional bits of plant material can be part of the charm of small-batch farm yarn. There is also variation of colors & transitions due to the natural dying methods used. We will match skeins in an order as well possible, but each skein is unique.
