Ready to knit your first sweater? In this beginner-friendly class, we’ll work together on The Downbeat, a top-down, seamless raglan sweater that’s a great introduction to sweater knitting.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of reading a sweater pattern, knitting top-down construction, working short rows to shape the neckline, and understanding raglan increases. The pattern also offers two different lengths and the choice of a straight or A-line body, so you can customize the fit and style to your preference.

We’ll take things one step at a time, with plenty of guidance and support along the way. By the end of the class, you’ll have the skills and confidence to tackle more sweaters on your own!

Materials Requirement:

  • Purchase The Downbeat by Elizabeth Smith from Ravelry before the start of class

  • Yarn for this course must be purchased from Must Love Yarn

  • Students receive a 10% discount off all materials bought for this class

YARN

850 - 1725 yards of worsted weight yarn

Suggested shop yarns:

KNITTING NEEDLES

  • US 7 - 4.5 mm circular needles

  • US 8 - 5.0 mm circular needles

Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS

Removable or locking stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Materials for the class must be bought at Must Love Yarn.  Students will receive a 10% discount on the cost of supplies for the class.

Cancellations can be made for a complete refund 10 days before the date of the class. Must Love Yarn reserves the right to cancel the class if the minimum number of students is not met, at that time a full refund will be given to any students who have registered.
