Butterfly Shawl/Cowl Class – starts June 13, 2019

Join us Thursday, June 13th for a fabulous workshop with pattern designer Marin Melchior.  If you’ve seen the Butterfly / Papillion Shawl or Cowl or the Moth variation, then you know just how gorgeous Marin’s designs are!  We are so fortunate to have Marin living in our knitting community and she has graciously offered to teach a workshop here at Must Love Yarn, and we couldn’t be more excited!

 Here are the details of the workshop:

  • Beginning Thursday, June 13th from 5-7pm you’ll learn the ins and outs of making the Butterfly / Papillion Shawl or Cowl. Don’t be intimidated by the short rows, Marin will be here to guide you through the pattern.
  • There will be a second day of class, Thursday June 20th, 5-7pm, come back in and continue progress on your project.
  • There will be 3 additional drop-in/help sessions June 27th, July 11th & 18th, 4:30-6:30pm, of which you can attend 2 at no additional cost (this is included in your class fee).
  • The fee for the class is $75 (this includes the 2 workshop evenings and 2 drop-in sessions), no refunds will be issued unless we do not reach the minimum number of students (5).
  • The pattern and yarn are not included in the class fee however you can purchase your yarn at the shop for a discount of 15%. The pattern will also be available to purchase at the shop at or before the day of class.
  • Yarn Requirements
  • Yarn amounts for 2 colors/yarns
  • MAIN COLOR: 2 x Fingering Weight Skeins (gradient and long color repeat yarns work well) 100g. /398m-435yds - for a total of 796 m / 870 yds & 200 g
  • CONTRAST COLOR: 1 x Fingering Weight Skein, 100g / 398m-435yds

  • Yarn (rough) amounts for 7 colors/yarns
  • 6 -MAIN COLORs: 6 x fingering weight yarn roughly 50g. /180m-200yds for a total of 1,080m / 1,200yds & 300g
  • 1-CONTRAST COLOR: 2 x fingering weight yarn roughly 50g. /180m-200yds for a total of 360m / 400yds & 100g

Can’t make the workshop evenings but want to work on one of Marin’s great short row patterns?  The 3 drop-in/help sessions (June 27th, July 11th & 18th 4:30-6:30pm) will be open to people not taking the workshop for a fee of $5 per session.  Come get your questions answered about the Butterfly / Papillion Shawl or Cowl or the Moth variation by the designer herself!
