1:30Saturday, November 24th 1:30-4:30pm
You’ve learned the basics and are ready to move on to your next project. Don’t let the beautiful cables on this deceptively simple hat fool you – we’ll show you just how easy they are to make! This class will teach you the ins and outs of cable-making (with and without a cable needle) and get you started on the hat project. Come join us for this fun advanced beginner-level class!
What you'll learn:
We’ll cover the basics (casting on/binding off, knitting/purling in the round, decreasing) but will focus on learning how to cable, reading a basic pattern, and reading a charted pattern.
Should be comfortable with basic knit and purl stitches.
For the class, you will need a worsted weight yarn in a light or medium color (not a dark color), and preferably not variegated, with size 8 needles (flat or circular, either are fine).
For the hat, you will need (1) skein of worsted weight yarn (+/-220 yards) and size 7 (16” circular) and size 8 needles (16” circular and double-pointed). Or you can use the magic loop method and will need a size 7 & size 8 needle (minimum 32” long). Other materials needed are a cable needle, tapestry needle and 8 stitch markers (1 contrasting color to mark the beginning of the rounds).
